It’s treat bag time.
And I’ve been sewing.
Lots of treat bags.
These are a pattern from Sweetwater.
And these are from Quilts and more.
So what’s going in all these bags?
Why pear butter, of course.

In my desperation to use up more of those pears, I modified a carrot cake recipe and came up with this yummy breakfasty-type cake.
Pear Cake
3 cups chopped, peeled pears (about 10 pears in my case)
2 cups sugar
2/3 cup veggie oil
3 eggs
2 tsp vanilla
2 14 cup all-purpose flour
2 tsp baking soda
2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/2 cup walnut pieces
NOTE: Since I had it out anyway and since it was already dirty from chopping/shredding pears, I used my food processor to mix my batter.
Combine the sugar, oil, eggs, vanilla and pears. Mix until the sugar dissolves (30ish seconds). Add the flour, soda, cinnamon, salt and nutmeg and stir until blended. Stir in nuts. Pour the batter into a 9 x 13 x 2 baking pan and bake at 250degrees for 40 to 50 minutes.
Do you have any great treasures hidden in your stash?
Not sure?
I wouldn’t know either.
Mom found a few gems when we moved her sewing room.
During the move, I did some shopping helped her clear out her stash.
This past Sunday, I helped myself to more fabric her whip up a few kits, patterns and charm packs.
This pattern is “Crazy Jack” by Pieces from my Heart. Mom used a “Pumpkins Gone Wild” charm back and her’s will have a Jack-o-lantern face. Mine uses a “Gobble, Gobble” charm pack and won’t have the face.
These almost-finished snowmen are from another Pieces from my Heart pattern. (Mom—what was the name of the pattern and the fabric you used?) Mine used a “Holly Jolly” charm pack.
Both patterns were ordered from Fat Quarter Shop and are older patterns, so I don’t see them listed any longer.
We decided to camp out this weekend. But, with Mommy and Daddy too tired to move, we decided to stay close to home. Really close.
Just like any good camping trip,
we made s’mores (did you know Graham Crackers can catch fire on the grill?)
and we slept in the tent.
Well, until midnight anyway.

Like?
I do.
This is Lila Tueller’s Bohemian Bag.
The fabrics are all from Anna Marie Horner’s Garden Party line.
This was a 2-day project, mainly because you have to wash it half-way through to fray the edges.
The bag is big for me. About 15 inches long. It could also use a stiffer lining.
But I like it.
A lot.
